Chakra (2021): Plot
On Independence Day, 50 robberies occur, resulting in ₹70 million worth of stolen goods. ACP Gayathiri takes charge of the case but is stumped, until she discovers that her ex-boyfriend Chandru’s house was the 50th target. During the robberies, Chandru’s grandmother is injured while trying to protect a medal awarded to Chandru’s late father. Chandru joins Gayathiri to solve the case, revealing that the robbers had inside information on the targeted houses. A company called ‘Dial For Help’ appears to be involved, with a common number belonging to Marimuthu servicing all 50 houses. They later find out that Marimuthu has been deceased for two years.
A mysterious figure contacts the Commissioner, claiming responsibility for the robberies and challenging the police force to catch him. Accepting the challenge, Chandru provokes the unknown person, who gives a clue to his location, leading to a chess-related hint. Chandru strategically places police officers in the houses to be robbed on August 23. He identifies the hacker as Leela, a chess coach. In a flashback, Leela’s abusive father kills her mother, leading Leela to seek revenge by becoming a skilled hacker. She orchestrates the robberies and is the true mastermind. Chandru, Gayathri, and their team pursue her, culminating in Leela’s capture and the recovery of stolen items. However, she escapes, challenging Chandru to another round.
