Aruvam (2019): Plot
A few months ago, Jyothi, a schoolteacher with no sense of smell, is approached by Jagannathan, who falls in love with her. Jagan confesses his love, and she reveals her concerns about her anosmia and her mother’s death due to a gas explosion. Jagan leaves, worried about her safety. At Jyothi’s school, a watchman is attacked by a ghost, and Jyothi feels sympathy for the students. While preparing exam papers, an accident leads to her hospitalization. She regains her sense of smell and enjoys life. However, a series of murders occur. Jyothi is accused, beaten, and possessed by Jagan’s vengeful spirit. Jagan reveals his backstory and how he was killed while fighting food adulteration. He possesses Jyothi and seeks revenge against his enemies, murdering them. The film ends with a hint of a sequel.
